Chapter 1
“Dear Diary..”
Π
The door was suddenly pushed open, and my brother Aldric, the newly appointed Alpha of our pack, walked in
Upon seeing me staring at my journal, he snickered.
“How old are you? Still writing in a diary like some middle–schooler?”
Normally, I would have snapped back at him.
But this time, I didn’t even look up or respond
Seeing that I wasn’t reacting, Aldric grew frustrated, ruffled his hair, and grabbed my journal to take a glance.
There was only one number written on it: ninety–nine
The number of times they had let me down over the years.
Aldric didn’t understand what it meant. He frowned and casually threw the Journal onto the floor, then ordered me,
“Stop wasting your time on nonsense. Vivienne wants you to make Garlic Butter Shrimp Scampi. Wash your hands and go downstairs. Just consider it an apology for the sarcastic comment you made earlier.”
remained calm and simply replied, “Okay,” before standing up and heading downstairs.
Aldric was surprised I didn’t start an argument.
In the past, whenever my family asked me to cook shrimp for my sister, I would cry as if the world had collapsed on me, as though it was the biggest injustice in the world.
Why was I suddenly so quiet this time?
“Luciana, have you turned into a different person? Are you secretly planning something bad, like putting something in the food?”
He studied me carefully, trying to figure out what bad intentions I might be hiding.
His gaze dropped to my red–rimmed eyes. For once, he shut up.
After a long silence, he spoke again.
“Vivienne has been away from the pack for a year, training and living outside. This is the first time she’s back. We’re eager to see her, and you should understand that. It’s just a mating ceremony, anyway. We’ll make it up to you later. We’ll arrange a new one for you.”
I stayed silent as I cleaned the shrimp from the fridge.
Yeah, just a ceremony.
To them, nothing was more important than welcoming Vivienne, even though this was my long–awaited wedding.
The wedding dress was a high–end design I had begged for, only managing to rent it after a long tinse.
The ceremony decorations were painstakingly planned by me over the course of six months with the wedding planner.
They had seen all of t
But in the end, the people closest to me turned me into the butt of a joke.
Yet when the day
y came, my entire family no–showed. My mate never appeared.
Wille Vivienne posted on Instagram about how many people were there to grest her, I stood alone, facing the ridicule and strange looks from pack members and guests, cleaning up the aftermath
Even the stall at the venue, seeing my pale face, pitted me and advised me to go home and rest.
“That night, my wolf’s heart shattered.
And so did mine. I was finally disappointed
But when my family returned to the packhouse, the first thing they did was order me to cook.
I bitterly smiled to myself.

I had originally thought that with my parents aging, Vivienne making a life for herself outside the pack, and Aldric being too busy with pack affairs, I would reject the invitation from Luna Roxana of another pack.
Het pack had recently partnered with the Lycans for warrior training, and becoming a skilled warrior had always been my dream.
But now, I felt leaving was the right decision
It was just a shame that my application had been submitted and I still had to wait another two weeks before I could leave.
I pushed past Aldric
“Excuse me, move out of the way.”
My cold demeanor made Aldric feel as though he had punched a pillow.
He was a bit helpless, about to say something else when Vivienne, the princess of the house, called for him.
“Aldric, I can’t peel these pecans!
Aldric immediately rushed to her side.
“Don’t peel them yourself, it’ll hurt your hands. You’re going to be a pianist, let me do it for you!”
Finally, the annoying fly had left the kitchen
