The Broken Warrior 2

The Broken Warrior 2

As I placed the shrimp on the dining table, I glanced at the living room

The atmosphere there was one of warmth and happiness

My father, who was always busy with pack affairs and had once been the park’s Alpha, was now completely free

He sat patiently, listening to Vivienne talk about her experiences with other packs

My mother, her eyes fall of concern, was holding Vivienne and saying how much weight she had lost, how she had suffered outside

Aldric was sitting to one side, focused on peeling pecans for Vivienne

I didn’t say a word, just silently observing this warm scene

The living room and the dining room felt like two entirely different worlds

One was full of life and laughter, while the other was steeped in loneliness

Luciana, why are you hiding? Still mad about your wedding

Vivienne’s voice, sweet but with a touch of sarcasm, rang out, and only then did the three people in the living room notice me

My father frowned instinctively. What’s with the sour face? Come over here!”

My mother’s expression turned impatient. Your wedding was your own fault, Vivienne had nothing to do with it. If you’re still angry at Vivienne, then don’t call me momanymore!‘

My wolf howled in anger, but because this kind of thing had happened so many times before, I was numb to it..

Vivienne pouted and cossed my mother, Mom, don’t say that. Luciana will be sad.”

She tried to comfort her, but the smugness in her eyes couldn’t be hidden

I know Vivienne

wasn’t

n’t innocent

Because I had already told her the date of the mating ceremony a week earlier

She had seen the message and said she would prepare a surprisefor me

And indeed, it was a surprise

This game of choosing between her and me was one she had played her entire life

Every time, I was never chosen by my parents or my brother

Not even the mate I was supposed to spend my life with chose me

Every decision, every glance, every wordalways a contest, always a challenge

I had never been the chose one, never the one they looked to when it mattered. She was always first, and I was left to watch from the sidelines, pretending I could accept it

But I couldn’t. Not anymore

I should be upset, but perhaps 1 had become numb. Hearing these words now left

me indifferent

I’m not angry.”

Those five words left everyone in the room staring at me in shock

Not angry? Impossible

I took in their expressions, feeling nothing but irony in my heart

Look at that they knew what they had done would anger me

Yet they still went ahead with it, and now they were blaming me for my emotions

Now that I appeared so calm, my parents and Aldric felt something was wrong

After a brief silence, my father spoke

As long as you’re not angry, it’s fine. We’re family, don’t hold grudges.”

Sure, I understand.I nodded obediently

Seeing that I didn’t seem to be upset, they finally relaxed and went back to their meal, pulling Vivienne into the conversation

Alongside the Garlic Butter Shrimp Scampi 1 had made, the table was filled with seafood and dishes prepared by the maids, all of which were Vivienne’s

Vivienne, you’ve lost so much weight, eat more,my father and Aldric kept piling food onto her plate

She smiled smugly, continuing to boast about her academic achievements outside the pack

She claimed she had been offered a spot in the Royal Orchestra and would soon be performing

My parents and Aldric kept praising her, while I silently ate my

Seeing how quiet I was, my mother seemed to feel guilty and finally remembered the wrongs I had suffered

She placed a shrimp on my plate

1 looked up, soring my mother’s somewhat awkward expression

Lat. Don’t say we never think of you

I stared at the shrimp for a long time before putting my fork down

They had all forgotten I was allergic to shrimp

I sneered inwardly and pushed the plate away

My mother felt embarrassed and angry. What’s wrong with you?”

Before she could say more, Vivienne suddenly clutched her throat and collapsed onto the floor, her face turning pale

The plate and fork scattered everywhere, but the most prominent sound amidst the crashing ceramic was her struggle to breathe. Mom, I can’t breathe!”
