CHAPTER 13

Oliver collapsed with a scream, blood pouring from his leg.

Madelynn nearly fell, but strong arms caught her mid-fall.

Sebastian.

His eyes were cold and murderous.

“You touch her again,” he said to Oliver, “and you’ll have a bullet in your other leg too.”

“Bash… you’re here.”

Madelynn’s voice trembled as she looked up at him, tears brimming in her eyes. Her wrists were red and raw from the tie Oliver had used to restrain her.

Without hesitation, she flung herself into his arms.

All her life, Madelynn had walked alone with no one truly by her side. But now… now she ha someone who stood before her like a shield.

Sebastian held her tight, one hand cradling her head, the other wrapped protectively around he vaist.

I’m here,” he whispered, his voice a deep anchor. “No one will touch you again.”

On the floor, Oliver writhed in pain, clutching his shattered leg, as blood seeped into the expensive white rug. He couldn’t even cry out properly, he was choking on the pain.

Amelia and Harry looked up in shock, finally realizing who stood before them.

heir faces paled.

Mr. Wilde… this- this is a misunderstanding,” Harry stammered, his businesslike voice crackin vith fear.

Sebastian Wilde’s name wasn’t just feared in social circles- it was respected. He was known t De brilliant and powerful. People in his own family bowed to him. His enemies rarely got a

econd chance.

But he didn’t even spare them a glance.

le tightened his hold on Madelynn and said coldly, “She’s my fiancée. She came here out of espect for her so-called family, and this is how you treat her?”

He turned, eyes like sharpened steel. “So tell me, which one of you wants to be held responsible? The Fontaines, or the Kanes?”

No one dared to answer.

Then, slowly, Sebastian raised his foot and pressed it down hard on Oliver’s bleeding leg.

Oliver howled in pain.

‘M-Mr. Wilde-please…”

Madelynn flinched at the squelching sound of bone and blood but gripped Sebastian’s sleeve. ‘Don’t. He’s not worth it.”

Sebastian paused. Then let go.

Oliver collapsed back to the floor, gasping like a fish pulled from water.

Sebastian looked down at him with utter disdain. “You were given a diamond and you treated her like cheap glass. Trash like you never deserved her.”

Across the room, Cecelia had turned white as a sheet.

She had bet everything on Oliver. His name, his money, his power. She had fought to steal him away. And yet…

Madelynn had turned around and secured someone even greater.

How was she always the lucky one?

Cecelia stepped forward, desperation seeping into her voice. “Mr. Wilde, I doubt you really know who my sister is. She’s been obsessed with Oliver since we were children. Don’t tell me you think she’s with you because she loves you.”

Amelia hesitated, then backed her daughter. “It’s true. Madelynn used to cry over Oliver day and night. We all knew it.”

Cecelia pressed harder, her voice syrupy and sweet. “Maddy’s probably just trying to get back a

im… at me. That’s why she’s with you.”

Harry added in his best fatherly voice, “Madelynn, apologize to Mr. Wilde right now. If he leaves

e’ll take our name with him.”

Madelynn stood there, silent.

Then Sebastian turned to her and asked quietly, “So this… is your family?”

Her breath caught in her throat.

Every word they said. Every lie, every deflection, was meant to turn love into suspicion. They’

lways done this: take something warm and twist it cold.

She swallowed.

I’m sorry you had to see this,” she whispered. “But yes. This is where I came from. Even my ow

arents never liked me.”

The room fell into an uneasy silence.

Even Harry and Amelia looked vaguely ashamed.

But Sebastian? He reached for her hand and gripped it firmly, then looked around the room and ;aid clearly:

She doesn’t need you anymore.”

Then, his voice dropped to something far more dangerous.

‘She has me.”

‘If you don’t want parents like these, then you don’t have to deal with them.”

The entire room went still.

Even the air seemed to hold its breath.

Cutting off one’s family is often considered unforgivable. A sin. A betrayal. After all, your parents gave you life.

But Sebastian didn’t hesitate for a second. He didn’t ask Madelynn to forgive them. He didn’t tell her to “try again.”

He stood by her without flinching.

For the first time in her life, someone chose her firmly, fiercely, and without compromise.

Harry bristled. “Mr. Wilde, this is a private family matter-”

Sebastian’s expression didn’t waver. “She’s my fiancée. Her pain is my business. If you wrong her you wrong me.”

Carl stepped forward, with fire in his eyes. “Sir, you didn’t see how they treated her before you arrived. The moment she stepped inside, they attacked her. Humiliated her. Even accused her of sleeping with me.”

He turned to Harry and Amelia. “This woman prepared ten boxes of luxury gifts for you. But you don’t deserve a single one. The diamonds, the designer items, even the deeds to new luxury cars and homes.”

Sebastian’s lips curled coldly as he deliberately listed the gift items. “Take them all back.”

Carl nodded. “Yes, sir.”
