“Disappeared for ten years. Probably a thief!”
My papers didn’t state my crime. He thought I was a petty criminal.
I ignored him.
While sharpening a knife, I posted the edited
video of Lily’s abuse online. It went viral.
Mark called, furious.
“Old man, you’re asking for it! I can destroy you!”
I laughed. “I know. But I’ll kill you first!”
He panicked, trying to find out about me. He got the information.
“Zen Year, 43, recently released felon. Ten

years ago, he brutally murdered the gang,
leader who attacked his daughter and three
others.”
Mark froze. Fear gripped him. He was
sweating.
His phone rang. He recognized the voice.
“Mark, your mother’s with me…”

“Son, help me! This man… he’s not human…”
Mark’s blood ran cold. It was his mother’s
voice.

Chapter 2

I shoved a rag into Mark’s mother, Susan’s, mouth and threw her to the floor. The usually
L
haughty socialite was now a disheveled mess, cowering in a corner, too terrified to move. At first, she’d screamed and threatened me, but a few slaps quieted her. She wasn’t a good person either!
The thought of Lily shrinking back in fear at the sight of Susan fueled my anger. Susan had allowed this, enabling Mark’s violence. Her family was high up in the police
department. They used technology to track Lily, preventing her escape. What kind of monsters were they? They abused their power to treat others like dirt. Other people’s
daughters are treasured; why did Lily deserve this?
The sight of Mark and Susan’s panicked faces gave me a grim satisfaction.

Mark arrived soon, terrified and fawning, a
stark contrast to his previous arrogance.
Seeing her son, Susan’s eyes lit up. She tried
to call for help, but my glare silenced her. Mark approached cautiously, his voice trembling.
“Dad, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have hurt Lily. Please don’t hurt Mom. I swear I’ll never touch her again. Name your price.”
He pulled out a check. I almost laughed.
“Too little, too late! Do you think money can fix this?”
Seeing my unmoved expression, Mark tried a different tactic.
“Dad, Lily and I loved each other. I lost my head. Please, give me another chance!”
I remained silent. He gulped, uncomfortable
<
under my gaze. His eyes darted to the
window, expecting someone.
I sneered, moving quickly. I found a tracking
device, his phone, and a camera hidden on
him.
Mark hadn’t even a chance to scream before I
knocked him out.
