Heather cornered Elijah again.
This time in the alleyway outside school.
It was also my way home.
I don’t know if I was mistaken, but I seemed
to see a hint of expectation in Elijah’s eyes.
Was he hoping I’d save him like I did in the
past life?
Absolutely not!
I just glanced at him and looked away.
<
Heather was strangely fixated on bullying
Elijah.
“Country bumpkin, what’s that in your hand?”
she sneered. “Are you a pervert? I saw it’s a
girl’s thing.”
Elijah gritted his teeth, saying nothing.
Not getting the response she wanted, Heather
reached out to grab it: “Did you steal my
stuff, you creep?”
But Elijah reacted strongly.
He pushed Heather away, his gaze falling on
- me.
“It’s not yours.
His voice was deep: “If you break it, I’ll kill
you.”
Scared, I averted my gaze and strode
forward.
Determined like I was going to join the
Communist Party.
The gleam in Elijah’s eyes dimmed under my
<
indifference.
Then, I heard the sound of fists hitting flesh.
And his muffled groan.
I still didn’t turn around.
But I saw him clutching something tightly in
his hand.
