Liam POV
We all woke up for breakfast pretty early. The reunion for Eve and her mother had been emotional, so f doubt most of us slept. Conrad and I quickly did the math last night and if she left at about 13 and was in the dungeon for 5 years, it means she was put down there at 8. Who the hell puts a pup in a dungeon. It keeps getting worse the more I learn about this poot wolf. No wonder she hates our kind. Her own kind.
Eve wanted to go and see her mother again this morning but we needed her to eat first. We spoke to the pack members looking after her and they admitted they were struggling as she has such a high care need but didn’t want to upset Conrad by admitting it. Conrad mind–linked the medics to check on her and noticed she wasn’t healing well, had some new bed sores, and hadn’t really gained any weight. It was decided she should be moved to the pack house and have round–the–clock care by the medic team.
“Eve slow down. You’re going to choke“, Kimberly said in her frustrated teacher voice.
“I just want to get going“.
“We know you want to see your mum but that will only happen if you survive breakfast“.
We hadn’t told Eve about the move yet as we were worried, she would stress out and refuse to eat again. Figured it was best to introduce her to the pack’s head medic and he can explain what is going on.
I turn around for one second and Eve bolts out the back door. Damn it. I have to mind–link, Conrad.
“Conrad. Eve bolted to find her mum before I could tell she was moved“.
“Let the guards know to be on the lookout and send her back to the pack house when they see her“.
I’m sitting with the girls finishing breakfast when a guard mind–links Conrad and me.
“Alpha King and Beta. Eve is coming back to the pack house. She is furious and her aura is up“.
Shit. She must have freaked out when her mum wasn’t there. I go to the front door just as Eve walks in. She starts talking in a very menacing growl.
“Where. Is. My mother“.
“We had to move her so she got better care but I will take you to her“. I’m doing my best to get her to listen but I can instantly tell by the coldness in her eyes she’s not listening.
She grabs my shoulder to move me out of her way and send me flying.

1 hit the wall nearly and story up and crashed land onto a side table shattering it. The amount of aura energy she used it feel like I’ve been struck by lightning. Conrad runs out of his office at the sound of the

crash and all the servants run for cover.
“Conrad. She’s an Alpha“, I yell while grimacing in pain.
I thought she was an omega as she gave off a very weak energy signal. Turns out she was just concealing her power as she was strong enough without it. Only now, she had lost control. I scramble up and return to the girls who are standing in the doorway. I had to protect them. Conrad was the only one who could stop her now.
She has her claws out and swipes for his face while trying to take his legs out from under him to drop him down. He manages to block the attack and refuses to attack her.
After several more swings, he grabs her wrist to spin her and get behind her. He grabs her into a bear hug and lifts her feet off the ground.
He has to use his full aura power to contain her. The energy waves ripple down the hallway making light bulbs start exploding and the glass in picture frames crack.
“LEWANA STOP THIS“. He booms in his commanding Alpha voice.
She is kicking and screaming in his arms trying to break free, but he has a tight grip on her. His order has no effect on her.
“I KNOW WHAT THEY DID. I KNOW WHY YOU ARE ANGRY“.
“YOU WILL NEVER KNOW“, she screams back.
Conrad tries to calm her down rather than ordering her but refuses to let go. “Your mother is safe upstairs. Stop fighting me. I know what they did“.
Her kicks start getting less and her crying becomes louder.
“It’s OK Lewana. I know what they did. Your mother is safe. You don’t have to hide anymore. I promise I won’t let them do it again. We won’t keep you from your mother“.
She getting quieter now. “You can’t promise that. They will always come after me“.
“I can. You will always be safe with me“.
He starts nuzzling at her neck and slowly lowers her to the floor. Her moves one arm to pin both her arms to her chest as he holds her. He keeps nuzzling at her neck and with his spare hand starts to pat her. She lets out a loud saddened howl and starts to whimper in his arms.
Suddenly it’s quiet. She’s passed out. Conrad gently moves her until he is holding her bridal style and picks her up off the floor. He can’t stop staring at her as if she is now the only thing that matters in the
universe.
The staff, ladies, and I just stare at our Alpha King being incredibly gentle. The only sound coming from

the broken glass cracking under his feet as he carries his sleeping mate upstairs.
