Xander POV
We arrived back at the pack late last night. I carried Serafine to bed and got to work. I would have loved to have stayed with her last night. I knew,

though, if I worked all night, it meant that I would get today with her and tonight. It me don’t need to be focused anywhere else but on her today.
I meant it when I said we’re getting married as soon as we return. I’ve had the maids and such working on it. While they were sorting out the wedding, I was getting in touch with other packs. It seems everyone’s crops have begun coming back.
When people were confused about it, I explained it was Serafine. I explained that three days ago, she had to face Gideon, who was using the magic from their crops to kill off the werewolf kingdom.
People weren’t just shocked to find out that Gideon was the reason, they were shocked that Serafine was the one who took him down. It’s led to a lot of good news that I need to give to Serafine today.
Placing the cup on the tray, I carry it through to the bedroom. When I step in, she’s still asleep. Placing the tray on the unit beside the bed, I kiss her gently, and she wakes up.
She blinks rapidly, clearing her eyes from sleep.
“I brought you breakfast. Today, it’s me, you and Eryx,” I say.
“Don’t you have things to get sorted? You’ve been gone from the pack for a while now,” she says quietly, and I hand her the tray.
“I sorted everything out last night. Killian and Garrick will be taking point and talking during the pack meeting. I’ll hold another one in a few days, but today they will get updated on everything they need to know.”
She nods and takes a bite of food. “So what’s our plan for the day?”
“Anything that you want. So, give me a list of things that you enjoy and we will do as many of them today as possible,” I say.
She looks at me, and chews her lip, and I realise how much I messed up, she didn’t do anything with Gideon. Here, she barely got a chance to either. “Okay, tell me some things you’ve heard of that you haven’t done and want to.”
Looking at me, she considers it. “I’ve always wanted to do a picnic, as a kid, the other children would talk about them, but I never got to do it.”
A picnic? Of all the things she could want and have missed out on, it was that, something so basic, that all children should experience.
“A movie? They were a privilege in my pack, not even every adult was allowed to watch them.”
“I can make both of those happen, Anything else?” I ask.
She considers it. After a long moment, she whispers, “Dance with music.” She looks at me, and my heart cracks.
Has she never really danced with music? I know that Gideon kept his pack on a tight rope when it came to rules and such, but for her to have never danced with music? That’s… Tragic.
“That is happening, I guarantee it,” I say. But now, I realise how much I messed up. When we first got married, she should have had that dance, I shouldn’t have just walked in, married her and walked out. Hell, I didn’t even kiss her, I don’t think.
Reaching out, I cup her face and smile softly at her. “Every day, we will do one small thing. We will do something that you’ve never experienced. I’ll make sure you get to experience everything.”
Leaning forward, I kiss her gently.
“Thank you, Xander,” she whispers.

My head shakes. “No, you never need to thank me, Serafine. I’m the one to thank you. For giving me a second chance after how badly I treated you, For giving me a son I never thought I would have. For giving me a true reason leave, so my focus wasn’t on revenge.”
She reaches forward and cups my face. “You’re my mate-”
“Don’t say that,” I say quickly, cutting her off. “Just because I’m your mate, it doesn’t mean you have to forgive me or give me a second chance. I don’t want her feeling like she has to because of that. It’s not right.
“I didn’t mean it in that way, I didn’t forgive you and give you a second chance because we’re mates, Xander. Let me explain, without cutting me off, please.”
Sighing, I nod. I watch her and wait.
“I forgave you because we’re mates, and that made me realise how important you were to me. Yes, you did a lot of things wrong, but you didn’t do them without reason. You had your beliefs, and Gideon, plus others, made it harder for you to trust me,” she says quietly and looks at me. “You were also the only place I felt safe and wanted. So yes, what you did was terrible, but you proved you regretted it, and you’ve made up for it.”
No, she’s wrong, I’ve not made up for what I did, for how I treated her. I grip her chin and stare at her. “You’ve been too nice to me when I don’t deserve it Hell, Serafine, I took your virginity in the worst way possible.”
How can she forget that?
“But what did you do after, Xander?” she asks, and I shrug. “You felt bad, you felt guilty, and you came into the room and gave me everything I deserved. You felt bad, even if you didn’t want to admit it.”
“I had something so precious, so rare, and I used and destroyed it. I’m sorry for all of that. I can promise that going forward, you won’t ever be hurt by me again.”
Smiling, she nods and leans in to kiss me. “No more past, it’s done, Xander. We start our new life now, today. We only make good memories. The bad before today, they no longer exist.”
I like that. “So, a fresh start?” I ask, and she nods. It will be, as we’re marrying again tonight. She will get a real ring, something that is perfect and matches her well. Something that shows exactly what she means to me.
“So, I have things to update you on,” I say. She nods, straightens, and watches me closely.
“Let’s hear it,” she says.
“The packs have confirmed their crops began coming back to life. l’explained about the magic, Gideon and what you did to save the crops.”
“We, you help, the guards helped,” she argues.
“No, it isn’t we. It’s you, without you, we wouldn’t have managed it. Many have said thanks, and many are sending gifts of gratitude for what you did. A lot of the packs have said they will have a celebration in honor of you today as well.”
Her eyes widen. “But, I’m just-”
“No, don’t say you’re just you. You’re the reason the packs aren’t dying. Some packs have also agreed to do a yearly celebration in honor of you on the date you saved the crops. People are seeing you as a good thing now, Serafine.”
She stares at me. Silently watching me for a moment before she opens her mouth. “I don’t deserve or need that, Xander. It’s nice to know, but I would have done it anyway, for everyone.”
“Which is what makes you different. You could have stayed here, kept our crops alive and ignored the world falling apart outside of our walls. You didn’t that’s an amazing person right there,” I say before kissing her. “Now, get dressed, let’s get some of these things done that you want to experience l stand and give her the space to get ready.
