Chapter 16: The Siblings’ Way of Venting
Celine’s clique of fake friends, seeing there was no more drama to enjoy, swayed th
their hips and approached her.
One of the women, Catherine, suddenly seemed to notice Amelia and gasped, covering her mouth in exaggerated surprise. “Oh my, isn’t this Miss Ainsworth?”
Cathenne linked arms with Celine, her voice brimming with excitement. “Darling, you absolutely must hear her speech from the other night. It was incredible!” She chuckled. “Such a pity for her, though. I never imagined her husband and his family could be so cruel!”
Celine clenched her fists tightly, cursing them silently: “You wretched bitches, as if you didn’t already know she’s Chad’s ex–wifel
Realiong that staying any longer would only lead to more humiliation, Celine shot them a venomous glare before storming off, her face dark with anger. She needed to find Chad and make him take action.
At the Weatherfield Group headquarters, inside the CEO’s office.
Chad frowned as he looked up, startled by the loud bang of the solid wooden door being kicked open. Celine stormed in, her heels clacking sharply against the floor, to catch her breath.
er chest heaving with fury as she struggled
“Damn you, Chad! You can’t even keep your own wife in line?” she shouted the moment she entered, her voice filled with rage. “How on earth did the Weatherfield family raise such a pathetic failure like you?” Chad calmly removed his glasses, his expression icy. “A pathetic failure is a forty–year–old woman still maxing out her father’s supplementary credit card.” His lips curled into a cold smirk. “At least my marital status isn’t a ‘permanently unsellable product.”
kshelf. “You little-
Funous, Celine hurled her crocodile leather purse at the bookshelf.
“Enough” Chad interrupted, his voice sharp with warning. “If you keep this up, I’ll make sure all your cards are canceled.”
The mention of cutting off her cards made Celine panic instantly.
With Chad’s standing in their father’s eyes, all it would take was a single word from him, and her father would cut off every single one of her credit lines.
Realizing this, Celine quickly switched tactics, feigning a pitiful demeanor as she told him how Amelia had humiliated her.
“Chad, you must make that woman pay. Today, she publicly insulted me, calling me a lowly bitch, slapped me across the face, and even accused our family of being filthy and rotten. This cannot go unpunished.”
“Brother, you’re her husband. It’s your duty to remind Amelia of her place. She should know to respect her sister–in–law. For the sake of the family’s reputation, I demand a formal apology from her Chad knew full well that Amelia would never apologize, but he also understood that he had to at least make a show of avenging Celine. Otherwise, she would never let it go.
With a sigh, he reluctantly dialed Amelia’s number.
The call didn’t connect.
He warted a moment and tried again
After three attempts, all he heard was the message that the line was busy. That was when it hit him–Amelia had blocked his number Celine exploded in anger, convinced that Chad was just putting on an act to appease her.
“Chad Weatherfield” she roared. “Is this your idea of standing up for me? Playacting justice into thin air?”
Chad tugged at his tie in frustration Enough, Celine. I don’t have time for your theatrics”
“I’m your sister she screamed, her voice trembling with rage. “And this is how you brush me off–with such pathetic lies?”
“You brought this on yourself, Chad said coldly, his gaze shifting to the window. Amelia’s tearful accusations still echoed in his mind.
Celine let out a sharp, mocking laugh. Td love to see how Father reacts when he finds out that the heir to the Weatherfield Group can’t even control a woman!”
As she turned to storm out, her dress brushed against a decorative porcelain vase on a nearby table. It crashed to the floor, shattering into countless pieces. The sound of the door slamming shut overlapped with the sharp crack of breaking porcelain.
Chad stared at the scattered shards on the floor, his brows furrowed deeply. Amelia’s slap hadn’t just landed on Celine’s check–it had struck at the dignity of their family’s century–old reputation. Lately, Amelia had been wearing him down, leaving him utterly drained.
fle knew he had no choice. He had to end this ridiculous marriage quickly and decisively. Just like the shattered vase on the floor, he needed to crush Amelia’s defiance completely.
As for their daughter’s custody, he was confident. All he needed was to secure the services of that legendary titan of a lawyer. If he could do that, Amelia wouldn’t stand a chance.
