Chapter 17
- 10
Winona locked eyes with Xavier. She was so familiar with that look in his eyes. Panicking, she bit his hand in a sudden burst of anger.
With a frown, Xavier pinched Winona’s cheek hard enough to make her let go. His voice was deep and rough, with an edge of desire. “You’re getting brave, huh? Biting me now?”
Cornered, all Winona could do was shoot him daggers with her eyes. “Let me go!” she demanded.
Xavier just looked at her intently. He leaned in close, his voice a seductive whisper. “It’s been two weeks. Did you miss me?”
Winona was livid. She knew he was seducing her. He was the only man she’d ever had, teaching her everything about love and sex. He knew how to get her heart racing. Her cheeks flushed bright red, making her look all the more appealing.
Xavier’s eyes darkened. He got close to her ears, making Winona shiver.
“Xavier, we’re divorced! What are you doing?!” she exclaimed.
“Show me the divorce certificate,” Xavier said in a deep voice.
Winona didn’t expect him to be so shameless. She said angrily, “Don’t forget that you handed the divorce papers to me in person. We have both signed them. We can go through the procedures in half a month. Let go of me!”
Her words seemed to remind Xavier. He moved back a little and stared at her angry face with deep eyes.
The two of them hadn’t seen each other for half a month. Xavier was busy with his work. He had just come back from a business trip, so he came out to meet his friends. He didn’t expect to meet Winona here. He was amazed as soon as he saw her. She was extraordinarily gorgeous. He wanted
her.
“Tell me. How did you convince my grandma to give you the marriage certificate in a month?” he asked.
Winona gritted her teeth and glared at Xavier, breathing heavily yet staying still. As they were in a public corridor, near the bathrooms, she kept her voice low, saying, “It’s none of your business. Let go of me!”
Xavier stood still. He just stared at Winona with clear desire in his eyes. She could feel his intense gaze and started to freak out, thinking he might actually try something right then and there. So, she lashed out with her foot, trying to kick him off and get away.
“You trying to kill your husband?” He snatched her calf mid–kick, his look gloomy. That could’ve hurt him if he hadn’t stopped her.
Winona sneered, “No, it’s ex–husband!”
Xavier narrowed his eyes, stared at her, and sneered, “Looks like I have to teach you a lesson.” Then he just grabbed her face and kissed her hard. He seerned to get more into it as he got a whiff of her perfume.
Winona widened her eyes and then began to struggle. She waved her hands but still couldn’t break free. Finally, after he’d had enough, Xavier backed off. She raised her hand to slap him, but he caught her wrist. “Again?” he huffed.
She tried to hit him with her free hand, but he held that one fast enough too. Her nails still managed to scrape under his ear, though.
Xavier’s face darkened at once. Winona just stared at the wound and said happily, “You deserve it!”
Xavier got a little turned up. He threatened her coldly, “Try that again, and I swear I’ll do it right here, right now!”
Of course, Winona didn’t believe that, but she still stopped, fearing that he might really go mad.
“Ahem, remember where you are.” A reminder suddenly sounded near them.
Winona shoved Xavier off, her face all red and mad. There was Zachary standing by the door with his hands in his pockets. She gave him an awkward nod and ran away.
Xavier walked out of the shadow unhurriedly and met Zachary’s teasing gaze. “Looks like you failed,” Zachary said.
Xavier was speechless.
Back in the restaurant, Eliza’s eyes were glued to Xavier. She saw the fresh mark on his face and her gaze darted to Winona rushing out. Her hands clenched tight as she struggled to keep her cool. Inside, Eliza’s mind was racing. ‘Looks like what Zachary said is true. I really have to do something.
