Harris rummaged through the cabinets, searching for something. I watched him from the side for about fifteen minutes. There wasn’t much rummaging to be done, really, since the cabinets were practically empty.”

Harris had barged in at three in the morning, waking Oscar from a deep sleep.”

With that single sentence, Harris’s demeanor shifted back to calmness.
Oscar’s arrival and departure were as abrupt as they were inexplicable.
