She lingered near Ethan’s house, hoping to
get him back.
Seeing Ethan begging me to return, she went

Just as the hot oil was about to hit me, Ethan
appeared, shielding me with his back.
A sizzling sound. Ethan trembled violently but
held me tightly.

you, forever.”
“This is a little compensation.”
Ethan slowly slumped against me.
Claire was subdued by bodyguards and taken
to the police station.
I went to the hospital with Ethan. As I was
wheeled into surgery, Ethan held my hand
tightly.
Mr. Jiang arrived after Ethan’s surgery.
He would need more treatments.
He looked at me, smiling gently, but tears

Mr. Jiang glared at him, then at me.
We left the ward. He was frowning.
“I found you to help Ethan, but you almost
killed him. I don’t know if my decision was
right.”
“It was wrong, terribly wrong.” Ethan wasn’t
the only one who almost died.
“You two shouldn’t see each other again. He
owes you. I’ll compensate you.”
I didn’t refuse. The Jiang family had money.
Maybe Ethan would give up faster with
money.
I didn’t say goodbye to Ethan and left the
hospital.
Four hours before my flight, Mr. Jiang called
frantically.

He asked me to help find him.
Seeing the large sum of money in my
account, I agreed.
Ethan wasn’t far, he was outside the airport.
Seeing me, his eyes lit up.
“Lily, are you staying?”

father and doctor are worried, go back.”

I sent his location to his father and turned to
leave.
“Lily, wait!”
I stopped. “Say it quickly, my flight’s leaving
soon. This is our last meeting. Let’s go our
separate ways.”
Sadness and reluctance filled his eyes. He
winced in pain, taking out his phone.
“Lily, can we take a photo?” Under his pleading gaze, I refused.
“Ethan, no one stays in the same place
forever. I hope you can move on too.”
I wished him a speedy recovery and left
resolutely.
From now on, our lives would be separate.
