Ethan and I agreed to go together.
In the morning, he suddenly told me that
く
something had come up and asked me to go
ahead.
Unexpectedly, when I arrived at the private
room, I heard them discussing me again.
The voices inside continued, getting nastier.
In the noisy room, I clearly heard Sarah’s
voice.
She said, “Everyone knows my sister, Taylor,
married Chase in my place.”
“The three years of marriage had a big
impact on her, I hope you guys won’t give her
a hard time when she gets here.”
Sarah was good at talking, of course.
If she really cared about my reputation, she
would have stopped them when they started
gossiping about me.
But she didn’t.
“Let’s talk?”
Chase stood beside me at some point.
He was wearing a well–tailored suit, looking
く
noble and striking.
“There’s nothing to talk about.”
I lowered my head and tried to leave, but he
anticipated my move, stepping in front of me.
“Why didn’t you answer my calls?”
“I was busy.”
“What were you doing? Busy enough not to
answer calls for hours?”
I looked up and stared at him, “With my
boyfriend, there are many things we can do.”
He seemed to think of something and his
expression tightened.
“Do you know what kind of person Ethan is?
And you’re…dating him?”
I looked at him calmly, “I didn’t know what
kind of person you are and still married you.”
“It’s not the same!”
“How is it not the same?”
Before he could speak, I added, “Well, Ethan
and I are dating willingly.”
My tone was probably too sarcastic; Chase’s
face froze.
I turned to leave, but he grabbed my wrist.
“When did you start dating Ethan?”
“What does it have to do with you?”
I tried to shake off his hand, but the tighter I
tried to pull away, the stronger his grip
became.
“Taylor, you were so eager to divorce me,
was it for him?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, let
go.”
He didn’t move, “No matter who you’re with,
you can’t be with him.”
“Are you crazy?!”
I kicked his foot.
He winced in pain and released me. I took the
chance to pull my hand away and stepped
back several paces.
“You should focus on your wedding, sis–in-

Chase’s face turned pale.
His lips moved, but he didn’t say a word.
I admit, there was a moment of triumphant
revenge.
But this feeling quickly faded, replaced by
unprecedented rationality.
“Tell Sarah that I’ve paid my debt to her,
we’re even now.”
