Chapter 6
I wasn’t sure if it was because I was swooned or if I was genuinely losing my mind but the way he said the words sent chills down my spine.
I opened my mouth to speak but I couldn’t find the right words to say.
I stood up straighter, I didn’t want him thinking he had me right where he wanted me.
“Hey, so we aren’t married yet,” I shoved him away from me with one push of his chest.
I was only messing with you, he started to say with
with that mischi
mischievous grin plastered on his face.
And then he inched closer, his hands behind his back and then raised a brow, “yet? So, when we do get married, would it be fine then?”
My face was surely heated a bright red by now and my eyes were about to pop
off their sockets.
I didn’t realise I had been holding my breath in until he inched away from me, “well,” he cleared his throat, like he didn’t just do the weirdest thing ever. “tomorrow is a big day.
With that, Karl Lever walked away from my presence, leaving me in the room to wonder how my day spun in such a rollercoaster.
When he said big day, I didn’t think he meant this big. First, there had been a knock on the door only five minutes after I’d fallen asleep, except when I looked up at the clock, it was actually seven hours after.
I sat up with a groan, confused as hell when I saw the unfamiliar environment, and then I’d clamped one hand over my mouth when I realised last night wasn’t a dream.
But I didn’t have time to ponder on that.
They walked in, in fours, dressed in the same uniforms, hair up in a bun. Each of them carried with them multiple dresses, others, accessories.
“Madam,” one of the women greeted me, “Mr Lever has sent these dresses for you to pick your favorite, we will fit them for you while you take a hot bath and get ready.”
I blinked, “um, the dresses are for?”
She smiled, “all he said was to get dressed ma’am.”
I nodded confusedly, not sure my brain could process anything that was happening.
1 looked at the variety of dresses, I didn’t know what to do, and I felt pressured, “this one,” I nodded at the first dress in sight.
A slender woman immediately put tape around my body, taking my measurements.
With a simple nod, I was guided to the bathroom where a huge tub of water with—I kid you not—rose petals, were waiting for me.
One of them washed my hair with all sorts of things while another gave me a full on body massage as I soaked in the hot tub.
I closed my eyes, I could gel used to this.
An hour passed and I was ready to get all dressed up.
The gown was already waiting for me on the bed and the staff had reduced to three,
They sat me in front of the dressing mirror, curled my hair in a bun, and pin on the most unrecognisable makeup. My usually pale lips were the darkest shade of red, and my eyes had smokey eye shadow staining it. I looked like I did fit in here after all.
I picked up the dress, getting a close look at it for the first time and 1 froze in place.
“Um, is that the dress I picked?” I blinked, leaning to touch the hem as I inspected it
es ma’am,” one of the women nodded, “Mr Lever is waiting for you now, it’s been fitted for youi lo wear.”
My jaw dropped when I slipped it on, not only was it stopping mid thigh, it was so low cut, half my tits were on display.
1 shook my head fast as I stared at my reflection in the floor length mirror, “oh no, no, we need another option, now-“

A soft knock on my door cut in. “ma’am Mr Lever says
ys it’s time for you to come downstairs, you’re running out of time.”
The staff in the room panicked, like they were terrified of the idea of upsetting him.
One of them hurried to give me platform heels while the other slipped my jewelry on.
“You don’t understand,” I shook my head at them, “I need to get changed.”
“I’m sorry ma’am,” one woman with a tight bun said as she sprayed some perfume on my skin, “but there isn’t enough time to fit another dress, youll be late.”
“But-
She took my hand pulling me out
ne out of the
room while I stood there in shock wondering what the heck just happened,
“No, I can’t go out like this, I don’t even know where we’re going and-”
I stopped at the top of the stairs,
Karl had his back to me, standing in a grey suit at the bottom of the marble steps, his hand flipped to check the time on his wrist.
Jas if he cou
could sense my gaze on him, his head turned in my direction.
His eyes were wide and I knew it was from the horror of being amused by my choice of outfit
And then that mischievous smirk I was starting to get used to, appeared on his lips, “oh, is this your style?”
“It wasn’t intentional, I needed to-”
“Well we better get going, there’s no time.” He cut me off.
“Where are we going?” I frowned, realizing I still had no idea
“You’ll be making your first public appearance by my side to seal the deal.”
My eyes went wide in horror, “what?! I can’t go out like this I have to change!
There’s no time for that, he shook his head, “Kent?” He called and I noticed the suit man for the first time standing only a few metres away.
“Sir
“Get the car started.”
Yes.sire
I shook my head fast, heading down the steps as quickly as I can, “no, no, you cih
I trailed off as I missed the last step, stumbling forward.
Out of nowhere, Karl’s hand caught my waist, as I pushed forward against his chest, my hands gripping his shoulders for support.
