“General Monroe’s men are here… They say they’ve come to take Miss Monroe home…“]

“They said the Monroe family doesn’t need to tie itself to the Prince’s estate… and that Your Highness needn’t bother visiting again.“]
The room erupted
A teenage boy blurted out first:
“Who the hell do the Monroes think they are, talking to the Prince like that?“]
Then the murmuring started.}
“Weren’t they just some military family?]
“I heard they moved out to the western territories five years ago.“]
“Left the daughter behind to marry the Prince.
Never even heard of them having any standing in New York. Super weird.”

As the whispers grew, Richard’s heart pounded louder.[]

As General Monroe’s only daughter, if she wanted out, there was no one in the world who could stop her.
Without a second thought, Richard let go and sprinted out the door.
